Laura Rodriguez-Kitkowski, Ph.D.
Dr. Laura Rodriguez-Kitkowski is a professor for Wayne State University, Oakland University and Madonna University in Michigan. Originally from Texas and a graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Psychology, Laura currently lives in the Detroit Metropolitan area where she has a private practice specializing in depression, suicide, bi-polar, dual diagnosis, substance abuse, eating disorders and human sexuality with children, adolescents and adults. She is a public speaker and presenter on a variety of wellness topics as well as a trainer throughout the United States on personal and professional development. Laura coordinated 211 Initiative communications throughout the nation and Canada and continues with legislative efforts in a variety of counseling-relate and wellness related initiatives. She has managed specialized programs in Elder Care, Child Care, Employment & Training and Employee Assistance. She is a Past-President of the Michigan Counseling Association (MCA) and Chairman of the Board for The Information Center, Inc. She is a member of ACA, MCA, the MCA Governing Council, the Bloomfield Hills Optimist Club, and Past-President of the Oakland Counseling Association. She received both her Master of Arts and Doctorate of Philosophy in Counseling from Wayne State University.

David J. Gonzales, Ph.D.
Dr. Gonzales has a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology. He also has a Master's Degree in Education and is a Michigan Certified Teacher with an endorsement in reading and special education. He has been in private practice since 1979 working with children and adults as an Educational Therapist, Academic Counselor, Educational Consultant, Diagnostician, and tutor. Dr. Gonzales has worked in public education as a reading clinician and learning disability teacher. He has owned and directed Keller Clinic, P.C. since 1979. Dr. Gonzales is co-founder of Eton Academy (formerly The Adventure School). He is an active member of Phi Delta Kappa International. He is also an active member and past president of the Pontiac Lions Club.
Educational Staff
Erin M. Durren, Academic Counselor
Erin Durren has been involved in education since 2003. She graduated from Miami University in Oxford, OH with a Bachelor's degree in Education. Before working at Keller Clinic, Erin was a Center Director of a high level educational facility where she worked with students of all ages and academic levels. Through her experience in education, she knows the importance of personalized education catering to student's individual learning styles and needs. Erin loves working at Keller Clinic and is excited help her students reach their fullest potential.
Mike Ehlers, Michigan Certified Teacher
Mike earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics at Wayne State University where he is currently working on his Masters Degree in Mathematics. He has taught mathematics for four years at the high school level, and has tutored at both Schoolcraft College and Wayne State University. He has also worked with elementary and middle school students in math and science. He lived in Western Europe for three years and received his Certificate for German as a Foreign Language from the Anglo-German Institute in Stuttgart, Germany. Mike is trained on Zangle, APEX, PowerSchool and EdPerformance. At Keller Clinic, Mike works with elementary to college age students in math and ACT/SAT math prep. He is flexible, adaptable and most of all, patient.
Lauren Field
Lauren Field has worked in the field of education since 2006, after completing her Master of Counseling degree at Oakland University and undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan. She is both a licensed school counselor (SCL) and a licensed professional counselor (LPC), as well as a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). Lauren offers clients a school counseling perspective in a private practice setting by providing one-on-one academic coaching to students struggling in the areas of organization, study skills and time management. She uses researched-based methodology, educational best practices and a solution-focused counseling approach to help her students reach their full potential. Lauren also offers one-on-one consultation with parents, small group seminars for students and/or parents, as well as counseling supervision to LLPC's.
Karrie Manes
Karrie received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Chemistry from the University of Detroit Mercy. During her tenure at UDM, she was a member of the Student Affiliate Chapter of the American Chemical Society and served as Treasurer and President. Karrie also served as treasurer of the Engineering and Science Student Council. She was the recipient of several awards including ACS Student Affiliate Chapter Member of the Year, 2004 Service Award for the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, 2004 ACS Student of the Year and was inducted into the Alpha Sigma Nu Jesuit Honor Society. Karrie also served as Chair of the Detroit Section Younger Chemist's Committee and was an Associate Member of the National Chapter of the Younger Chemist's Committee. Her Master's research focused on designing nitrogen- and sulfur-based donor ligands to bind heavy metals for use in water remediation technologies.
In 2011 Karrie received her Ph.D. at Michigan State University. While at MSU she served on the Undergraduate Curriculum and the Graduate Orientation Committees. She was a two-time recipient of the Harold J. Hart Distinguished Fellowship and a three-time recipient of the MSU Education Merit Fellowship for Excellence in Teaching. Teaching was an integral part of Karrie's time at MSU. She taught both general and organic chemistry and was a guest instructor in the summer of 2009. Her Ph.D. research included several projects revolving around using chemistry to address environmental concerns such as reducing mercury ion levels in wastewater, cadmium ion detection and the ever-growing concern of renewable energy resources.
During the 2010-2011 school year, Karrie taught General Chemistry I & II at Adrian College in Adrian, MI. While not teaching Karrie enjoys running, reading, Salsa dancing and spending time with her family and friends. She currently lives in Royal Oak, MI.
Lynn Prince, M.A.
Lynn Prince is a Michigan Certified Teacher, celebrating twenty-seven years of teaching experience. Being highly committed to student success, she believes in teaching the necessary skills and strategies to promote lifelong learning. Because of a wide range of professional assignments, Lynn has developed a strong ability to work with students of all ages. Besides general classroom teaching, she has served as a math and reading learning support teacher for elementary and middle school students. In addition, Lynn assisted in writing curriculum, determining textbook adoptions, planning and implementing professional training, and preparing state and federal reports. Lynn has received numerous recognition awards for her outstanding teaching, leadership, professionalism, and dedication. Since earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Spring Arbor College, and a Master of Arts in Education from Michigan State University, Lynn has enhanced her own professional skills through seminars, workshops, and professional readings.
Lisa Swiecki, M.S.P.
Lisa has been involved in education since 2005. She holds a Bachelors in Education and a Masters in Psychology from Wayne State University. Although she is a Michigan native, Lisa has spent the last several years as a 7th grade reading teacher in Arizona and as a tutor in North Carolina. Lisa relocated back to Michigan to be closer to her family. She is currently a tutor at Keller Clinic, where she shares her years of experience in teaching students both one-on-one and in a classroom setting. She has worked with students of all ages and has been an academic advisor for college students and a liaison for faculty members.

Lois Schwarz, M.Ed
Lois has an M.Ed in Special Education and holds a B.A. in Psychology from New York University. She is a Michigan Certified Teacher with an endorsement in Learning Disabilities. Lois has taught in special education public school classes as well as in private practice. She has training in providing a multi-sensory approach to remediation. Lois is also a certified Relationship Development Intervention consultant for families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. At the Keller Clinic, Lois works with elementary to college students primarily within the areas of study skills, math, reading, and writing.
John McClain, M.A.
John has been teaching since 1981. He currently is a resource teacher at a private school as well as tutor at Keller Clinic. John started working at Keller Clinic when he got out of college as a full time tutor. He has worked as a fifth and sixth grade teacher prior to his resource teaching position. John prides himself as strictly a one-on-one tutor at the clinic.
Claudia Pearson, M.A.T.
Claudia began working with children in 1972 when she had the wonderful opportunity to be an au pair in France for a family with seven children. After a year in Paris, she returned to the states to continue working with children as a teacher's aide with Severely Mentally and Physically Impaired children and later with Emotionally Impaired at Fairlawn Center, a state psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents. Working as a teacher's aide inspired Claudia to complete a BA in English and Masters Degree in Education. At Keller Clinic, Claudia works with elementary to college students primarily within the areas of English, writing, reading, study skills and ACT/SAT prep.
Dr. Paolo Todesco
Dr. Paolo Todesco obtained his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Windsor. Additionally, he received his Master's degree in School and Community Psychology and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Wayne State University in Detroit. His graduate level work focused on child and adolescent development and he has published an article on adolescent risk-taking behaviors. Dr. Todesco has been a Psychologist for several school districts including Detroit Public Schools, Grosse Pointe Public Schools and Warren Woods Public Schools for the past 11 years. He has been an adjunct professor at Wayne State University for 5 years, teaching classes on Educational Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, and Psychological Testing. Dr. Todesco has also been an Adjunct professor at Macomb Community College for the past 6 years. He also conducts numerous custody and guardianship evaluations for the Macomb County Probate Court System and testifies in court hearings. Dr. Todesco has worked extensively with children and adolescents who have learning disabilities, cognitive impairments, ADHD, Autism, Aspergers, depression, anxiety disorders and other emotional impairments which negatively impact daily functioning and academic performance. Dr. Todesco is happily married and has two wonderful children.
Holly A. Aulph, M.A.
Holly is a limited-licensed psychologist who received her Masters in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hartford in Connecticut in 2000. She has been working in a private practice for five years. Holly conducts psychoeducational evaluations for Keller Clinic.
Mental Health Staff
Douglas Stanley, LMSW, FAODP
Doug is a Licensed Master Social Worker who specializes in treating the Substance Abuse/Dependency of individuals and the families afflicted by these disorders. He started this area of expertise in 1990 working at St. John's residential treatment center of The Oxford Institute as an intern, then as a Social Work Technician, after receiving his Associates in Applied Science in Mental Health/Social Work with honors from Oakland Community College. Doug moved to outpatient practice for his second internship at Eastwood Clinics in Rochester Hills, where he developed and implemented an Intensive Outpatient program for two of their agencies. After achieving his Bachelors of Social Work with honors from Eastern Michigan University in 1994, Doug remained in the outpatient treatment arena for his full time therapy career. He continues working on call at Insight's residential unit in Clarkston where he has been a steady figure doing lectures on recovery from drug and alcohol addiction since 1995. Having completed two internships focusing entirely on treating Alcoholism and Drug Addiction, Doug focused on family systems for his Masters of Social Work at Wayne State University, while interning at Henry Ford's Maplegrove Center. Working under a nationally acclaimed children and families of dependency supervisor, he added this population of cliental to his expertise.
Although Doug's main focus is abuse and dependency he has effectively worked with teens and adults having issues of depression, anxiety, PTSD, domestic violence, anger issues and co-occurring disorders. In addition to his one-on-one sessions, he facilitates an Intensive Outpatient Program, Relapse Prevention, Didactic and Domestic Violence group therapy. Additionally, he has a six-session series for families of addiction and administers alcohol and drug evaluations, complete with SASSI testing, for adolescents and adults.
Sarah Snelling MA, LPC, CAAC
Sarah Snelling is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has experience working with anxiety, depression, addiction, substance abuse, sexuality and relationships, eating disorders, mental illness, suicide, crisis, and trauma. Sarah has a special interest in group work, supervision and training and is part of the training and consultation team at the Keller Clinic.

Heather Calcaterra, M.A.
Heather Calcaterra is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). Her professional experiences include over eleven years of clinical case management and counseling of young children, adolescents, adults, and families. In addition, she has extensive experience working with abused, neglected, and delinquent youth, youth with severe behavioral problems, juvenile sexual offenders, and families in need of prevention services or reunification assistance. She is a member of the American Counseling Association.
Heather's academic preparation includes the Master of Arts degree in Community Agency Counseling and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, both from Wayne State University. Heather is also a Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC). In addition to her academic preparation Heather served as a volunteer for the Macomb County Cooperative Extension Service Parent to Parent program for five years, and the Common Ground Sanctuary for one year. She has also received additional experience in the areas of Play Therapy, HIV / AIDS awareness, Behavior Modification, Career Counseling, and Crisis Intervention.
Anahid Lisa Derbabian, M.A. Anahid is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) in private practice at Keller Clinic, P.C. Anahid earned her masters degree in counseling at Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan, and is a member of the Chi Sigma Iota national honors fraternity. In addition to her counseling career, she has enjoyed a successful business career in Marketing and Public Relations, where she is Nationally Accredited in Public Relations.
Anahid utilizes a variety of counseling techniques to assist clients in sharing, healing, learning, growing, moving forward and creating the life they are meant to live. She works one-on-one with clients, and also conducts groups, couples and family therapy.
Anahid works with individuals who experience depression, anxiety, codependency, shame, bipolar disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. She has worked with adolescents who self-injure, led codependency/empowerment groups for women, as well as social skills groups for children and adolescents with Asperger's.

Suzanne Haynes, M.S.
Suzanne Haynes has an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Michigan University. She has also studied psychology and urban communications at Rutgers University in New Jersey and has a Specialization in Family and Couples counseling from Oakland University. Susanne is a Limited License Psychologist and has been in clinical practice in the Birmingham-bloomfield area for the last 21 years. She focuses on individual and couple psychotherapy and parenting consultation. Suzanne is a member of the Ethics Committee of the Michigan and the Psychological Association. Suzanne is also a current instructor of Psychology at Baker College in Auburn Hills.
Catherine Johnston, M.A.
Catherine Johnston is a nationally certified counselor with over 25 years of experience in the human services field. At the Family Independence Agency, she worked with individuals and families in a variety of capacities, including caseworker and casework supervisor. While at Oakland County Children's Village, she provided individual, family and group therapy for 13 - 17 year old residents who had been adjudicated by the courts. At HAVEN she performed crisis intervention, monitored high-risk parental visitation exchanges at area police departments, and worked extensively with domestic violence and sexual assault survivors. Catherine obtained her Master's Degree in Counseling from Oakland University. She has also recently completed training and certification in the Positive Parenting/F.A.M.I.L.Y. Rules Program and utilizes this philosophy in her work with families, when appropriate. The goal of this program is to reduce conflict and tension among family members, while improving communication in the home through clarification of the rules, consequences and rewords. She is a member of the American Counseling Association, Michigan Counseling Association, American Mental Health Counselors Association, and Chi Sigma Iota, an international honor society for counseling professionals. She currently treats individuals, couples and families ranging in age from pre-adolescent to senior citizens.
Alicia C. Mindlin, Psy.D.
Alicia is a native to Michigan. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan Dearborn campus, and received her Master of Arts, with honors, in counseling from Oakland University. Alicia received her specialist degree in Humanistic & Clinical Psychology from the Michigan School of Professional Psychology, and is pursuing her doctorate in Humanistic & Clinical Psychology.
Alicia completed her internship at Oxford-Addison Youth Assistance, where she worked with families and youths of all ages, and was a part of the day-to-day operations. Her caseload included an array of life challenges. Prior to her internship, Alicia worked with emotionally impaired children, children who were abused and neglected, as well as teenagers who were pregnant at The Saint Vincent Sarah Fisher Center Residential Facility. Here, Alicia served as a youth specialist and was part of the treatment planning and its implementation as well as a part of the day-to-day operations.
At this time, Alicia's areas of focus include working with adolescents, adults, families, grief and loss issues, as well as psychological problems related to health issues. Alicia also administers psychological testing.
When Alicia is not working she shares her life with her family.
Sheryl Nienhaus, M.A.
Sheryl Nienhaus has over 20 years experience working with preschool and elementary aged children and their families. Her experiences include being a classroom teacher and an elementary school counselor. She was named Macomb County's Outstanding Elementary Teacher of the Year 2004 for her role as a school counselor. Believing in a systems approach, she works closely with classroom teachers and parents in a consultative manner as she advocates for children . Sheryl believes that all children want to do well and succeed, and through a positive team approach, can learn to do so.
Sheryl is a graduate of Oakland University where she earned her Master of Arts in Counseling. She is a Licensed Counselor in the state of Michigan and is also nationally certified. Sheryl is a member of many professional organizations such as American Counseling Association, Michigan Counseling Association, American School Counseling Association, Association for Michigan School Counselors and Association for Positive Behavior Support.
Mitchell Parker, Ph.D.
Mitchell Parker, PhD., is a licensed psychologist who specializes in working with the families of children with learning disorders and developmental disabilities. Before moving to the Detroit area Dr. Parker lived in Buffalo, N.Y. where he was first the Director of the Learning Evaluation Clinic at Children's Hospital and later the Director of Psychological Services at Summit Educational Services a school for children with developmental disabilities. Dr. Parker has also been involved in residential summer camping experiences for children with serious learning disorders. Dr. Parker has served has a clinical faculty member in the departments of Psychiatry and Psychology at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
