Clinic Directors And Co-Owners
David J. Gonzales, Ph.D.
Dr. Gonzales has a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology. He also has a Master's Degree in Education and is a Michigan Certified Teacher with an endorsement in reading and special education. He has been in private practice since 1979 working with children and adults as an Educational Therapist, Academic Counselor, Educational Consultant, Diagnostician, and tutor. Dr. Gonzales has worked in public education as a reading clinician and learning disability teacher. He has owned and directed Keller Clinic, P.C. since 1979 and is currently a partner co-owner of the clinic. Dr. Gonzales is co-founder of Eton Academy (formerly The Adventure School). He is an active member of Phi Delta Kappa International. He is also an active member and past president of the Pontiac Lions Club. Dr. Gonzales is married and has two daughters. He resides in Bloomfield Hills.
Laura Rodriguez-Kitkowski, Ph.D.
Laura Rodriguez-Kitkowski is a professor for Wayne State University, Oakland University and Madonna University in Michigan. Originally from Texas and a graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Psychology, Laura currently lives in the Detroit Metropolitan area where she has a private practice specializing in depression, suicide, bi-polar, dual diagnosis, substance abuse, eating disorders and human sexuality with children, adolescents and adults. She is a public speaker and presenter on a variety of wellness topics as well as a trainer throughout the United States on personal and professional development. Laura coordinated 211 Initiative communications throughout the nation and Canada and continues with legislative efforts in a variety of counseling-relate and wellness related initiatives. She has managed specialized programs in Elder Care, Child Care, Employment & Training and Employee Assistance. She is currently the Public Policy & Legislation Co-Chair for the Michigan Counseling Association (MCA) and volunteers on the American Counseling Association (ACA) Public Policy & Legislation Committee as well. She is a member of ACA, MCA, the Michigan Counseling Governing Board, the Bloomfield Hills Optimist Club Board, the board of The Information Center, Inc., the MI-AIRS executive board and President of the Oakland Counseling Association. She received both her Master of Arts and Doctorate of Philosophy in Counseling from Wayne State University.
Educational Staff
Marcy Eichbrecht, B.S. Marcy earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education form Oakland University in Rochester, MI. She specialized in Spanish and Language Arts. She holds a degree in Early Childhood education as well. As a member of the National Council of Teachers of English and the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, Marcy holds education in the highest regard. Marcy has recently decided to work on a certification in special education. She has worked with students of all ages. At Keller Clinic, she specializes in Spanish, and Language Arts tutoring. She also helps students develop organizational skills along with other study skills in general. Marcy works with students on an individual basis and enjoys being a part of her students' many successes. When Marcy is not working, she enjoys spending her time with friends and family.
Brigid and Michael Godvin
Brigid and Michael Godvin have come to Keller Clinic with over 30 years experience in private business. Brigid earned a B.A. from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and another B.A. in Hotel & Restaurant Management from Michigan State University. She is currently working on her Masters with specialization in ADD and learning disabilities.
Michael has a B.E.E. (Electrical Engineering) from the University of Detroit-Mercy, and a Dual-Masters degree in Business and Industrial & Systems Engineering from the University of Michigan. They have two children who are both attending college. At Keller Clinic, Brigid and Michael run the Home School Program and the After School Homework Program. They work with students on organization, time management, and study skills. In addition, Michael provides private tutoring in both math and science at all levels.
Aimee Kotrba, Ph.D.
Aimee attended undergraduate at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri and received her masters and doctorate degree in clinical psychology (with a specialization in child psychology) at Wayne State University in Detroit. Her masters thesis focused on the effectiveness of using parents as paraprofessionals for treatment of their autistic children, while her doctoral dissertation researched the development of gender roles and identities in normal adolescents. She completed her internship at University Psychiatric Center in Detroit. She plans to begin a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital's Center for Human Development in September, and also plans to continue assessments and begin taking on therapy cases on a part-time basis at Keller Clinic. Aimee lives in Brighton with her husband, Jeff (who works as an architect in Livonia), and their two dogs (a Siberian husky and a mini-beagle).
John McClain, M.A.
John has been teaching since 1981. He currently is a resource teacher at a private school as well as tutor at Keller Clinic. John started working at Keller Clinic when he got out of college as a full time tutor. He has worked as a fifth and sixth grade teacher prior to his resource teaching position. John prides himself as strictly a one-on-one tutor at the clinic.
Claudia Pearson, M.A.T.
Claudia began working with children in 1972 when she had the wonderful opportunity to be an au pair in France for a family with seven children. After a year in Paris, she returned to the states to continue working with children as a teacher's aide with Severely Mentally and Physically Impaired children and later with Emotionally Impaired at Fairlawn Center, a state psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents. Working as a teacher's aide inspired Claudia to complete a BA in English and Masters Degree in Education. At Keller Clinic, Claudia works with elementary to college students primarily within the areas of English, writing, reading, study skills and ACT/SAT prep.
Steven M. Portnoy, M.A., LLP
Steven has been doing psycho-educational evaluations for Keller Clinic for the past three years. He is a Limited Licensed Psychologist with a Masters+ 30 from Wayne State University's College of Education, School and Community Psychology program. He is also a proud graduate of the University of Michigan's undergraduate psychology program. In addition to Keller Clinic, Steven is a veteran school psychologist with the Detroit Public Schools. He has been employed by DPS for the last seventeen years, honing his skills by working with a myriad of challenging regular and special education students. Over the years Steven has done individual, family and group counseling, as well as ADHD research at Children's Hospital of Detroit. As a hobby, Steven is researching the mental aspects of amateur golf. He is happily married and has two great children.
David M. Maxwell, M.A., L.L.P.
David has worked at Keller Clinic since January 1991. He has conducted individual academic and therapeutic tutoring sessions in reading and math with elementary and middle school youngsters. He has also conducted comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations with children, adolescents, and adults. He has a Master's of Arts degree in School and Community Psychology from Wayne State University. David has been a school psychologist for the Detroit Public Schools since September 1980. He is a State of Michigan Limited Licensed Psychologist and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. David's interest in developmental reading and reading instruction has resulted in his pursuing post-graduate courses in reading, as well as special training and practicum in the Orton-Gillingham multi-sensory approach to reading instruction. David is a Certified Wilson Reading System Tutor and a Certified Orton-Gillingham Tutor.
Holly A. Aulph, M.A.
Holly is a limited-licensed psychologist who received her Masters in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hartford in Connecticut in 2000. She has been working in a private practice for five years. Holly conducts psychoeducational evaluations for Keller Clinic.
Mental Health Staff
Heather Calcaterra, M.A.
Heather Calcaterra is a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC). Her professional experiences include over eight years of clinical case management and counseling of young children, adolescents, adults, and families. In addition, she has extensive experience working with abused, neglected, and delinquent youth, youth with severe behavioral problems, and families in need of prevention services or reunification assistance. She is a member of the American Counseling Association, the Association for Play Therapy, the Association for Adult Development and Aging, the Association for Creativity in Counseling, and the Criminal Justice Reference Service.
Heather's academic preparation includes the Master of Arts degree in Community Agency Counseling from Wayne State University, and the Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, also from Wayne State University. In addition to her academic preparation Heather served as a volunteer for the Macomb County Cooperative Extension Service Parent to Parent program for five years, and the Common Ground Sanctuary for one year. She has also received additional experience in the areas of Play Therapy, HIV / AIDS awareness, Abuse Risk Management, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, and Addictions Counseling.
Anahid Lisa Derbabian, M.A. Anahid is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) in private practice at Keller Clinic, P.C. Anahid earned her masters degree in counseling at Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan, and is a member of the Chi Sigma Iota national honors fraternity. In addition to her counseling career, she has enjoyed a successful business career in Marketing and Public Relations, where she is Nationally Accredited in Public Relations.
Anahid utilizes a variety of counseling techniques to assist clients in sharing, healing, learning, growing, moving forward and creating the life they are meant to live. She works one-on-one with clients, and also conducts groups, couples and family therapy.
Anahid works with individuals who experience depression, anxiety, codependency, shame, bipolar disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. She has worked with adolescents who self-injure, led codependency/empowerment groups for women, as well as social skills groups for children and adolescents with Asperger's.

Mary Ann Hamlin, PhD, ABPP
Mary Ann Hamlin, PhD, ABPP is a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology and a Neuropsychologist. She has a PhD and a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit. She also has a Master's degree in Educational Guidance and Counseling from Wayne State University. Dr. Hamlin has a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Marygrove College, with a specialty in teaching. She has been working as a clinical psychologist and a neuropsychologist (specialist in brain-behavior relationships) for 25 years. She has written papers on the treatment of individuals who have received traumatic brain injuries, and she has given numerous presentations in that area. She currently teaches at Oakland Community College. She taught for 10 years at the middle school and high school levels. She is licensed to teach Mathematics and Social Science in middle school and high school, and she is licensed as a counselor at those levels. Dr. Hamlin works with adolescents, adults, and geriatric clients. In addition, she serves as a supervisor for students who are studying for a PhD at the University of Detroit Mercy.
Suzanne Haynes, M.S.
Suzanne Haynes has an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Michigan University. She has also studied psychology and urban communications at Rutgers University in New Jersey and has a Specialization in Family and Couples counseling from Oakland University. Susanne is a Limited License Psychologist and has been in clinical practice in the Birmingham-bloomfield area for the last 21 years. She focuses on individual and couple psychotherapy and parenting consultation. Suzanne is a member of the Ethics Committee of the Michigan and the Psychological Association. Suzanne is also a current instructor of Psychology at Baker College in Auburn Hills.
Catherine Johnston, M.A.
Catherine Johnston is a nationally certified counselor with over 25 years of experience in the human services field. At the Family Independence Agency, she worked with individuals and families in a variety of capacities, including caseworker and casework supervisor. While at Oakland County Children's Village, she provided individual, family and group therapy for 13 - 17 year old residents who had been adjudicated by the courts. At HAVEN she performed crisis intervention, monitored high-risk parental visitation exchanges at area police departments, and worked extensively with domestic violence and sexual assault survivors. Catherine obtained her Master's Degree in Counseling from Oakland University. She has also recently completed training and certification in the Positive Parenting/F.A.M.I.L.Y. Rules Program and utilizes this philosophy in her work with families, when appropriate. The goal of this program is to reduce conflict and tension among family members, while improving communication in the home through clarification of the rules, consequences and rewords. She is a member of the American Counseling Association, Michigan Counseling Association, American Mental Health Counselors Association, and Chi Sigma Iota, an international honor society for counseling professionals. She currently treats individuals, couples and families ranging in age from pre-adolescent to senior citizens.
Alicia C. Mindlin, Psy.S.
Alicia is a native to Michigan. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan Dearborn campus, and received her Master of Arts, with honors, in counseling from Oakland University. Alicia received her specialist degree in Humanistic & Clinical Psychology from the Michigan School of Professional Psychology, and is pursuing her doctorate in Humanistic & Clinical Psychology.
Alicia completed her internship at Oxford-Addison Youth Assistance, where she worked with families and youths of all ages, and was a part of the day-to-day operations. Her caseload included an array of life challenges. Prior to her internship, Alicia worked with emotionally impaired children, children who were abused and neglected, as well as teenagers who were pregnant at The Saint Vincent Sarah Fisher Center Residential Facility. Here, Alicia served as a youth specialist and was part of the treatment planning and its implementation as well as a part of the day-to-day operations.
At this time, Alicia's areas of focus include working with adolescents, adults, families, grief and loss issues, as well as psychological problems related to health issues. Alicia also administers psychological testing.
When Alicia is not working she shares her life with her family.
Sheryl Nienhaus, M.A.
Sheryl Nienhaus has over 20 years experience working with preschool and elementary aged children and their families. Her experiences include being a classroom teacher and an elementary school counselor. She was named Macomb County's Outstanding Elementary Teacher of the Year 2004 for her role as a school counselor. Believing in a systems approach, she works closely with classroom teachers and parents in a consultative manner as she advocates for children . Sheryl believes that all children want to do well and succeed, and through a positive team approach, can learn to do so.
Sheryl is a graduate of Oakland University where she earned her Master of Arts in Counseling. She is a Licensed Counselor in the state of Michigan and is also nationally certified. Sheryl is a member of many professional organizations such as American Counseling Association, Michigan Counseling Association, American School Counseling Association, Association for Michigan School Counselors and Association for Positive Behavior Support.
Mitchell Parker, Ph.D.
Mitchell Parker, PhD., is a licensed psychologist specializes in working with the families of children with learning disorders and developmental disabilities. Before moving to the Detroit area Dr. Parker lived in Buffalo, N.Y. where he was first the Director of the Learning Evaluation Clinic at Children's Hospital and later the Director of Psychological Services at Summit Educational Services a school for children with developmental disabilities. Dr. Parker has also been involved in residential summer camping experiences for children with serious learning disorders. Dr. Parker has served has a clinical faculty member in the departments of Psychiatry and Psychology at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
