Tutoring
Keller Clinic provides a range of tutoring and educational support services designed to address a variety of needs. We specialize both in remediation for students requiring assistance in improving academic performance, and in enrichment for those seeking to expand their talents and abilities beyond their current level.
Remedial Tutoring
Our tutors are trained in the Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Phonetic approach and the success oriented Keller method. No single technique is used exclusively. The needs of the individual student determine the procedure.
 Study Skills Tutoring
We specialize in providing students with tutoring in the kinds of academic skills that spell success in middle school, high school, college and beyond. In particular, we emphasize:
- SQ3R formula using a speed reading/study skills approach
- Effective study skills, including how to prepare for tests, and how to organize assignments and notes efficiently
- Expository writing skills, teaching students how to write well organized, well-argued essays
More importantly, we teach students to transfer all of these skills to actual textbooks and other school materials.
Standardized Test Tutoring (SAT/ACT & More)
We offer short and long term tutoring for the SAT I, SAT II, ACT, SSAT, Catholic High School Entrance Exam and AP Subject Tests.
Our individualized approach focuses on those specific areas in which the student needs support and improvement, rather than applying a general preparation method.
Our successful one-to-one college entrance preparation program includes:
- diagnostic practice examinations
- verbal and math instruction
- a full mock SAT/ACT practice test
- vocabulary improvement, confidence building
- unlimited computer use at no additional charge
Advanced Math & Science Tutoring
One on one tutoring is available for the following subjects:
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Statistics
- Pre Calculus
- Calculus
- and more
Our individualized approach allows us to work with students of all levels including advanced placement (AP) and college students.
Subject Area Tutoring
Ongoing tutoring is available in English, history, sciences, math, and foreign languages. Our tutors work both on course content and on subject-specific learning skills, teaching students the essential disciplinary structure unique to each subject so they can continue to excel in the academic area even after they no longer receive tutoring.
